Patterns.

I also like to play with texture. This is a thermal with
whales and sail boats with a silver spandex skirt.
Like Mondo of Project Runway, I love to work with patterns. I love curves with pinstripe and bright with bold.

Accessories.

Accessories are an easy way to jazz up an outfit. They're usually a lot cheaper than the funkier outfits.

outfits that i love.

school.

Are my school outfits for last week. I made the orange pants myself. I found the whale/sailboat shirt at Plato's Closet and I wear these converse almost every day.

friday night.

Friday,  I had a night on the town with my friends.  We went to Easy A and also went to a book store. Where I sat in the smallest chair known to the human race. This outfit: I got the boots for 50% at DeLias, the tights and skirt at Marshall's, the hat at the Dollar Tree and the pinstripe shirt at JC Penny's. I did, however get the white tank at Pacsun.

my outfits.

Today Blondie and I took many photos of our various outfits. This one is her skirt which was a birthday present to me. My shirt is actually another skirt she gave me for my birthday.

Dear World,

I've realized that you have no idea I am, so...

Dear World,
I am a thirteen year old eighth grader in the middle of Nowhere, Vermont. I am a nerd. My friends are nerds. I love Plato's Closet, Marshall's, and TJ Max. I was surproosed how many people complimented my outfits, especially the girls in Holister shirts and jeans. My brother, however, does not appreciate my outfits. My mother calls me a rebel without a cause but now I have a cause, challenging middle school and high school fashion, my school is both.

My Poofy Blue Skirt.

My beginning of fashion expression was in a toy store (to each their own). I saw an electric blue big costume skirt and I loved it! It was two layers of yards of gauzy fabric. Originally, it was $57, but as I mentioned I like lower costing items, so it was good that it was a second year item, which slid it down to $28. I wore it around town the first day and then stuck it in my closet. Two weeks later one of my dad's friends said it made her day to see me in that skirt. That pushed me into the unexpected of middle school fashion.

P.S. My friend Blondie is the model in these pictures, I just took the photos.

skinny jeans.

I have one pare of jean leggings which are thinner and stretchier than normal skinny jeans. But I have no regular skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are uncomfortable! My friend calls them paint jeans, because there so tight they look like their painted on. Sure they look good, but so do yoga pants. Camisoles also annoy me. The straps dig into my skin and the shelf bras don't help at all, they're to small. Also, no matter whose wearing them, they alway wrinkle around the stomach. Last year I wore skinny jeans and camis but my breaking point was that the aeropostle shirts are so thin that you have to wear another shirt underneath. Once that gave way, I got courage and went another route.

The Rules.

I like to test the limits. In our society there is an unsaid rule that middle schoolers don't dress in nusual clothing. I challenge that rule, with poofy skirts and clashing patterns, colors and textures. Of course I don't wear all my outfits to school, I'm not that brave. My tutu and my card skirt stay home. I love them but I don't want the high schoolers to look down on me.

Fashion.

To me there are two really important things in the clothes you wear. One, you like what your wearing, if you don't like why wear it? Two, that you are comfy, this is the reason I don't cram myself into skinny jeans, it's also the reason that I only have one pair skinny jeans and their actually jean leggings.  I tend to like things that are a little bit different than what the normal people wear. I wear baggy pants and skirts instead of jeans and like contrasting colors. I also love accessories like hats and scarves and ties. But I often like clothes that are inexpensive which is why I buy clothes from places like Marshall's, TJ Max, toy stores, kid stores and sale items. I also have a lot of hand me downs from my mom, brother and friends. Wearing what you want should be fun, there's lot of pressure from your friends and family on what to wear. Some of its good, some of its negative, my brother does not support my fashion sense but that's his problem.
